Case against Mahesh Babu for liquor ad

Case against Mahesh Babu for liquor ad

Prince Mahesh Babu, who keeps away from all sorts of controversies in media, was on Thursday dragged to Andhra Pradesh State Human Rights Commission for acting in an advertisement promoting consumption of liquor.
Amru Naik, a social activist who claimed to be a great fan of Mahesh Babu, filed a petition in the SHRC, alleging that the superstar had acted in an advertisement promoting sale of Royal Stag liquor. “Since he has a huge fan following, his fans would take this advertisement seriously and might start consuming liquor,” he said and requested the commission to stop the advertisement with immediate effect.
The SHRC issued notices to the Director General of Police and the Excise department officials to submit a comprehensive report before June 5 on the advertisement.
Normally, Mahesh Babu does not approve of such endorsements. He even does not act in smoking or boozing scenes in films. So, it is rather surprising to see why he accepted this latest endorsement.
